From a family business to an innovator in the field

Oy Lunawood Ltd began operating as a family business in 1985. For the company’s principle owners, Aulis and Olavi Kärkkäinen, entrepreneurship is a way of life. They first embarked along the path to entrepreneurship at a young age in logging timber. Their inspiration has always been the desire to develop better production and product solutions in the spirit of sustainable development, based on true demand. One of their most significant innovations has been the development and introduction of Lunawood’s unique, patented thermo-wood processing plant.

Thanks to Aulis’s and Olavi’s non-stop processing method, the industrial production of Lunawood thermo-wood, while at the same time preserving the natural properties of the wood, is possible.

The demanding process bared fruit

The treatment process for thermo-wood is extremely demanding. Lunawood has made strong efforts to lay the foundation for understanding and implementing this process. Thanks to the non-stop process, we have been able to increase production according to demands. Our efforts paid off and the company has experienced a considerable rate of growth. As indication of our success, we placed first in the Kasvuyritys TOP 100 list for developing companies in 2006 (Optio financial magazine).

The development and implementation of Aulis and Olavi Kärkkäinen’s thermo-processing equipment is still an extremely important part of the company’s expertise.
